EMG/NCS Laboratory
The EMG Laboratory provides electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS) to aid in the diagnosis of a range of neuromuscular disorders, including special expertise such as single fiber EMG and repetitive nerve stimulation (RNS).
Adult Muscular Dystrophy (MDA) Clinic
The Adult Muscular Dystrophy clinic at Rhode Island Hospital is devoted to the care of patients diagnosed with neuromuscular conditions. The clinic is sponsored by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), which provides financial assistance and patient support services. A neurologist, physical therapist, and social worker are available at each weekly clinic. Patients with muscular dystrophy, myasthenia gravis, inflammatory myopathy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, Friedreich's ataxia, mitochondrial myopathies, and other conditions are amongst those who are evaluated and treated at the MDA Clinic.
Louise Wilcox ALS Clinic
The Louise Wilcox ALS Clinic offers a specialized program of care that utilizes a multidisciplinary approach for the evaluation and management of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The purpose of the clinic is to enable the patient to maintain a maximum level of neurological functioning in a supportive and understanding environment. The clinic provides assistance in the management of the physical, psychological and social conditions aspects of ALS. Medical personnel representing multiple interrelated disciplines care for the specific needs of each ALS patient, including neurology, pulmonology, speech, occupational and physical therapy, nursing and social work.
